On Monday, March 4, 7 pm at the Ponca City Library, Pioneer Genealogical Society will host Tammy Reese, Kay County Clerk for the last 19 years, speaking on genealogy and land records at the County Courthouse in Newkirk. With the ongoing expansion and renovation of facilities, this program should give valuable information on where and how to access these important resources. The public is welcome.

What is Pericarditis?

Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium, a sac-like structure with two thin layers of tissue that surround the heart to hold it in place and help it work. A small amount of fluid keeps the layers separate so there’s less friction between them as the heart beats.

19th Annual Memorial Bowling Tournament set for Saturday, April 6

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Inc. will host its 19th Annual Strike Up Some Fun Memorial Bowling Tournament at Lucas Lanes in Blackwell, Oklahoma. This year’s tournament will feature 4 squads, with up to 12 teams in each squad, for a total of up to 240 participants. The fun and relaxed event is a great way for community members to come together in support of our community’s only nonprofit Hospice provider, helping the agency continue to provide quality end-of-life care at no cost to patients.

United Way of North Central Oklahoma Community Impact Grants available for non-profit organizations

The United Way is pleased to announce that grant funds are available to non-profit organizations through the United Way of North Central Oklahoma Manering Endowment, designated gifts program. The Endowment welcomes proposals from any non-profit organization in Kay County with an IRS tax-exempt status and a policy of non-discrimination. The Endowment will consider funding for special projects and new innovative programs focusing on Education, Financial Stability and Health and Safety. These three focus areas are critical to improving lives in our community. Online applications are due March 22nd by noon and disbursements will be made April 15th. An endowment committee made up of UWNCO board members and community volunteers manage the funds. Anyone can designate a gift to this endowment fund to help support our local non-profit organizations.
