Zelenskyy visits troops, inspects bombed-out housing in Kharkiv

Ukraine’s president visited troops in the Kharkiv region, his first publicly known trip outside the Kyiv area since before Russia’s invasion, in a show of confidence for the nation’s defenders. Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited front-line positions of Ukraine’s military, handed out state awards and “valuable gifts” to servicemen and servicewomen, and had briefings on the operational situation, according to his website.

Biden visits Texas town to mourn Uvalde school-shooting victims

President Joe Biden visited Uvalde, Texas, on Sunday to meet with some of the families whose children died last week in the latest mass shooting at a elementary school. Biden was greeted in Uvalde by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican who regularly criticizes the Democratic president over immigration at the southern U.S.
