Betty Ann Thorpe passed away peacefully in her home in Universal City, Texas on July 7, 2020. She was born on April 22, 1932 to parents Madge Sullivan and Richard Botkin in Meade, KS. Betty graduated from East High School in Wichita, KS. She married her high school sweetheart, Marion “Gene” Thorpe on December 29, 1951.

Edward Lee “Speck” McKinnis, lifelong Tonkawa resident, died on Friday, July 10, 2020. He was 96. A celebration of Speck’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the Chapel of the Trout Funeral home of Tonkawa. Military honors will be presented by the United States Navy with burial following in the Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery. Pastor Joshua Reese of Christian Life Church will officiate. The grandsons will serve as casket bearers. Masks are not required, but requested. Viewing will be available at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9am-8pm.

Byrdie Ruth Phillips Johnson, beloved mother and grandmother died July 7, 2020. She was a long-time resident of Ponca City, OK. She moved to Midwest City, OK in January 2018 to live near her daughter in an assisted living community. She was born August 19, 1931 in Kansas City, MO and was the only child of Champ Clark and Byrdie Katherine Nothnagel Phillips. Her mother died when she was 3 days old. Byrdie lived in several homes during her childhood and moved to Newton, KS to live with her aunt and later in high school lived with Earl and Olive Beamgard. She graduated from Newton High School in 1949.
