Burbank First Baptist Church News

Body
It is amazing how much of an impact our church family has on people in Osage and Kay County. Many of us have friends in other states who asked how things are going with the community. I was blessed to do a funeral this past week for a family that has fond memories of the opportunities that the Burbank community gave them during their younger day. The Burbank Alumni Association still has their annual meeting in what is now called the Alumni Building. Unfortunately, the membership continues to dwindle due to the passing of time. It is great to know that many have fond memories of Burbank. There isn’t much remaining to provide food staples. We do have a volunteer Fire Department, United States Post Office, Town Hall, and Rock Quarry. Oh yes, there is a handy pop machine at the Town Hall to provide a pause that refreshes. People who live in Burbank have always done their best to support one another. Burbank, First provides support to the community. The church makes available our Fellowship Hall to any group that wants to meet for a family gathering. It has been used for birthday celebration, Homemakers meeting, holiday gathering, and funeral fellowship meals. Burbank may have been a wonderful place to have raised one’s family. Burbank is still a place to gather for an uplifting worship service on Sunday mornings and Bible Study on Wednesday evening. God’s goodness continues to bless those that find their way to renew old friendship. It is a blessing to see new faces from my personal perspective. It is a joy to see a faithful church member face light up when friends from the past come and visit our worship services. Next month, September, my wife and I will complete our 15th year of serving at Burbank. More on that in the next edition.
