Burbank First Baptist Church News

Body
One of my favorite scripture verses is found in the book of Psalms 118:24. “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” This should be everyone’s favorite verse to start their day with. Though we do not know what this day will bring, we can accept the challenge that this day is going to bring us because we know that the Lord is going to be with us. When people take advantage of the opportunity to gather at the little church in Burbank, I am amazed who has made it a priority to attend. Each service is uplifting. We have a chance to ask others to pray for physical or spiritual needs. The message that the Lord has given me as Pastor will speak to someone who is attendance that day. I believe this is true whether it be for a normal Sunday service or whether it’s for our Wednesday Bible study service that we have each week. God’s word has a way of meeting the need for whomever will attend. As my wife and I travel the highway to attend church we see so many people who have decided to use the day for personal enjoyment rather than spend a little time in worship. When I talk with people about why they spend their day in other activities, I hear the normal response, “I can worship Lord wherever I am at.” While this is true, I believe that people get more out of a worship experience when they celebrate it with people that they know, where they sing songs of praise, and where they get a chance to renew friendships as they talk about how the Lord has blessed them since they last met. I hope as you read these comments that you think about your worship experience. Has it been the starting point for a great week to follow? Why not rejoice and be glad for the opportunity to attend corporate worship somewhere.
