Burbank First Baptist Church News

Body
As previously promised, September is here, and I have been blessed to have served as pastor at Burbank First Baptist Church for 15 years. On the 3rd Sunday in September of 2008, I came in view of a call to pastor the church here at Burbank. We had just moved back to Oklahoma from Parsons KS. I had previously been Pastor at two churches in Kansas while working at a manufacturing company in Parsons KS. Starting in February of 2008, we travel back to Kildare to work on our home to prepare it for our retirement. Little did I know that during that time until September of 2008 I would have the opportunity to pulpit supply at various churches in the Ponca City area. If I remember correctly there were only two Sundays that I failed to preach somewhere. One of the locations that I pulpit supplied was in Burbank. Burbank had an interim pastor for a year, and it was time for him to return to his home church. The church offered me the opportunity to come in view of a call. After prayer, my wife and I decided that what better place to serve during retirement than Burbank OK. The past 15 years have been a blessing to both of us and the body of believers in Burbank. During these 15 years, we have lost several members through death or families deciding to attend in other churches. But praise be to God we also have gained some new members. It has been a joy to see the hand of God working in people lives. I have been blessed to see children be born and subsequently graduate from high school and a couple from college. You might wonder how I could be retired and pastor the church at Burbank. Well, my friends, a man called the ministry never retires. I call it a labor of love. I get a chance to love people that I minister to. They get a chance to return that love as they minister to my wife and me. I don’t know what the Lord has in store for my wife and me. But what I do know is that the Lord is in control. There is more ministry to be done. There are more people who need God’s love in their life. If you need a church home, there’s room for you at Burbank.
