We’ve been called into special session Tuesday by Gov. Kevin Stitt. While the Senate is in full support of fiscally responsible tax relief and figuring out a thoughtful plan to eliminate the income tax over time, we’re concerned the governor’s special session call is irresponsible. His call has three points – tax fairness, deliver a tax cut, and increase budget transparency.

Supreme Court will decide if Texas and Florida can regulate social media to protect ‘conservative speech’

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court said Friday it will rule on how the 1st Amendment applies to social media and decide whether Texas and Florida can impose heavy fines on Facebook, YouTube and other popular sites for allegedly discriminating against conservatives.

Five Year Gap releases their newest album, “More Than Chemical”

This is not the first time that the brother sister duo band, Five Year Gap, has appeared in the news because of their incredible talent, and it is sure to not be the last. Five Year Gap, comprised of siblings Ciara and Brody, have been featured numerous times since the creating of the band in 2021 and here they are again to say that they have released a new album. As of Friday, Sept. 29, their newest album, “More Than Chemical” has been opened to the public.

Winter less cold

Twenty-eight community and organizational members congregated Wednesday morning on the 27th to discuss those that are Unhoused in Ponca City. The community conversation, “a winter less cold” was presented by Survivor Resource Network and Tara Goldman, Executive Director of United Way of North Central Oklahoma and hosted by the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma. Survivor Resource Network is a proud United Way of North Central Oklahoma agency with a mission to end domestic and sexual violence. “92% of women experiencing homelessness report having experienced severe physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives, and upwards of 50% of all homeless women report that domestic violence was the immediate cause of their homelessness.” shared Tara Tyler, Executive Director of Survivor Resource Network.

Peachtree Landing and United Way of North Central Oklahoma — United Together

Peachtree Landing temporary emergency shelter, with the help of the United Way of North Central Oklahoma, was able to first offer services to homeless individuals and families almost 35 years ago. The name Peachtree Landing was chosen because a landing provides a safe and secure place during a storm, and the blossoms of the peach tree symbolize hope and potential. The specific mission of Peachtree Landing is to assist homeless individuals and families through temporary emergency shelter and strengthen their capacity to live independently.
