BROKEN ARROW -- The Ponca City Wildcats’ baseball season came to an end Friday, when they experienced a pair of losses in the Class 6A Regional Tournament. The Wildcats first lost to Bixby 2-0 and then in a losers’ bracket game dropped a 12-2 decision to the host Broken Arrow Tigers.

BROKEN ARROW -- Ponca City track and field athletes qualified for the Class 6A State Track Meet in five events at the regional Saturday. Qualifiying for the State were Burt Miner in the 3,200 meter run; Aven Hobbs in the 400, Victor Morfin in the high jump and the 800 meter and the 1600 meter relay teams.

May 6—The nation’s longest winning streak hadn’t come so close to ending as it did during the seventh inning of Saturday’s Bedlam matchup. The Sooners have been in a few close games over the past month and a half, but they hadn’t been in a situation where they had to make a comeback in the final frame to keep their goal of a perfect Big 12 regular season alive.

Applications are now being accepted for the Lady Mavs girls’ summer basketball camps at Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa, according to Coach Greg Krause, camp director. “Summer is the best time to work on individual skills and fundamentals,” he advises.

TULSA -- Kate Clark of Ponca City finished 28th among individuals in the Class 6A Girls State Golf Tournament Wednesday and Thursday in Tulsa. Clark shot a 91 for 18 holes on Wednesday and then came back to post an 83 Thursday for a tournament total 174 on rain drenched MeadowBrook Country Club.
