Four of Marvel’s weird licensed crossovers

Body
Back in March of 2019, Disney made a $71.3 billion purchase of films and assets held by 21st Century Fox. For many people this was a signal that the Fox owned Marvel properties such as Fantastic Four, X-Men and Deadpool would be coming to the MCU. This is true of course with the announcements of Deadpool 3 and a new Fantastic Four film in the works, but Disney had also acquired many other properties.

Review: ‘Clarice’ is more CBS procedural than ‘Silence of the Lambs.’ That’s not a bad thing

Body
CBS, your one-stop shop for meat-and-potatoes television, has added another title to its roster of procedural reboots and revivals — though with “Clarice,” which premiered Thursday, it looks outside its own vault to create a sequel to “The Silence of the Lambs.” Alongside the network’s retooled “The Equalizer,” with Queen Latifah in the title role, it makes a minitrendlet of new female-led network crime shows, which is … not nothing.

‘Hamilton’ scored two Golden Globe nominations, so why isn’t it eligible for Oscars?

Body
When Disney paid $75 million to acquire the worldwide distribution rights for “Hamilton,” the plan was to release the filmed version of the Broadway juggernaut in theaters. Those plans, of course, imploded amid the pandemic, and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s historical epic was instead released on Disney+.

From U2 to Lady Gaga, notable Super Bowl halftime performances linger

Body
Credit Michael Jackson for elevating the Super Bowl halftime show to something worth staying on the couch to watch instead of beelining for another round of nachos. Prior to his 1993 exhibition, the halftime slot was clogged with marching bands, faux Mardi Gras celebrations and haphazard ideas such as, in 1990, a salute to the 40th anniversary of Peanuts characters.
