Body

Mayo Clinic News Network

DEAR MAYO CLINIC: I have a loved one who was referred for hospice care. I’m not sure what this means. Can you share more about what hospice care is and how it may help my family member?

ANSWER: Hospice care might be an option for people who are nearing the end of life due to a terminal illness and have exhausted all other treatment options.

Animation is not a genre: examining the animation age ghetto Comically Serious

Body
I’ve said in the past how much of a fan of animation I was. As a medium, it is incredibly versatile and expressive in a way live action film or tv isn’t. One of my favorite directors of all time, Guillermo del Toro, recently said the following about his recent adaptation of Pinocchio on Netflix: “We wanted to show that animation is not a genre for kids. It’s a medium. Animation is film, animation is art, and it can tell stories that are gorgeous and complex, and that feel handmade by humans for humans.”

On Gardening: Bubblegum, Paradise, Fuchsia offer picture-perfect Vistas

Body
The Garden Guy has had the most fun the past few months when I show Supertunia partnerships on my Facebook page. The comments start off with “Can it compete with my Bubblegum?” and then conclude with something like “My Bubblegum will cover that plant up, chew it up and make it disappear.”

Adoptable Pets

Body
Without a doubt, this week’s cat of the week is Mischa, a 5 year old Domestic Shorthair and Manx mix. Mischa is one of the funniest cats you will ever experience. He is such a character and has everyone at Northern Oklahoma Humane Society wrapped around his little paw. Mischa has been with NOKHS since the beginning of February and it didn’t take long for everyone to fall in love with him. He absolutely loves for his bottom to be scratched and his belly to be rubbed. He is also very on the move and doesn’t sit still often, but takes frequent breaks for attention. He is a big boy, weighing in over 15 pounds the last time he was weighed. That doesn’t stop him from from being extremely playful. He puts aside his love of nap breaks and attention to chase his toys around. While every animal I meet at NOKHS holds a special place in my heart, I can say without a doubt that Mischa is one of my favorites. This amazing guy needs a home and somewhere out there a home needs him, they just have to find him first.

Blackwell Animal Shelter holds free adoption week

Body
With the overwhelming amount of animals that have turned up at the Blackwell Animal Shelter over the last few weeks, they have decided to hold a free adoption week from March 13 through 19. During this adoption event, all animals that are available for the free adoptions are fully vetted. This means that not only are they spayed or neutered, but they are updated on their vaccinations and microchipped.
