There are some notable games on this week’s area smaller school football schedule. It will be Homecoming at Blackwell as the Maroons are scheduled to host Alva.

This week the annual Red River showdown is scheduled to take place at its usual venue, the venerable Cotton Bowl in Dallas. This year’s game is between two ranked teams, with Texas having the highest ranking based primarily on the way the Longhorns defeated Alabama earlier this year. Oklahoma is unbeaten as well, setting up a game with high expectations on both sides.

The Woodland Cougars remained in the unbeaten category with a 36-8 victory over Chouteau-Mazie. In other area smaller school games it was Alva defeating Newkirk 34-6, Oklahoma Christian School topping Blackwell 50-6, Chelsea getting past Morrison 24-18, Pawnee over Tonkawa 34-13 and Deer Creek-Lamont winning in a 2-0 forfeit over Sharon- Mutual.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — They finished the game without Jamal Adams and without a single member of their usual starting offensive line playing at his regular spot.
Unranked, once beaten Pawnee stunned unbeaten third ranked Tonkawa Friday night 34-13. “They rubbed it in our face and made us like it,” Buc Head Coach Mike Kirtley said, “cause they’re dang good.” Kirtley said the Black Bears are “just too big, strong and physical for us to handle.
