Punchlines for Paws quickly approaches

The Punchlines for Paws benefit comedy show is quickly approaching and tickets are still available to purchase. The Northern Oklahoma Humane Society is holding this benefit show that will spotlight the hilarious comedians Josh Firestone featuring Marty Johnson, and Jon Wallen. This show directly benefits the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society who dedicate their time rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in the Northern Oklahoma area. Punchline for Paws will be held on Feb. 17, at the Osage Casino and Hotel. The people of Ponca City will have the opportunity to have an incredible night filled with laughter, all for a great cause.

Miss Ponca City pageant winners crowned

The Misses of Ponca City earned their titles and were crowned on Saturday, Jan 26 and 27. The seven young women who walked away with a crown this past weekend, as well as all of the contestants who didn’t, worked incredibly hard for this competition and did an amazing job. Each contestant showed their incredible talents, beautiful style, intelligence, and grace during the competitions.

Capitol Considerations

The Senate has completed budget hearings with the various state agencies as work on the budget continues. In the coming weeks, each subcommittee will present their budget proposals for their select agencies to the full Appropriations Committee that will then use those recommendations to craft a state budget. That budget proposal will be put into a Senate resolution that will then be voted on by our entire chamber. Once approved, it’ll be sent over to the House and budget negotiations will begin between our two chambers.

How long to hang on to your tax returns

As individuals attempt to more effectively organize their homes, they may come across a familiar pile of documents that they might hesitate to discard. Conventional wisdom has suggested taxpayers hold on to their tax returns for at least seven years. However, the Internal Revenue Service indicates that the seven-year timeline is not necessarily applicable to everyone. The IRS recommends taxpayers speak with their insurance company or creditors to see if they require account holders to hold on their tax records longer than the IRS. If they don’t, individuals can follow these guidelines, courtesy of the IRS.
