Full Moon Concert planned Aug. 3

“Hillcrest Ensemble” will perform “The Great American Songbook” at the upcoming Full Moon Concert Friday, Aug. 3 in Tonkawa Centennial Park, 301 East Grand in Tonkawa. Eight area musicians will present American Standards – including classics such as Blue Moon, Heart and Soul, Sentimental Journey, Georgia on my Mind, All of Me, In the Mood, On the Sunny Side of the Street and more popular favorites. Guest vocalists for the evening are Abby Davis, Kate Branstetter and Mallory Stolhand.

Laureate Phi chapter meets

Five members of Laureate Phi met recently at a local coffee shop for lunch,following the guides lines of groups of 10 or less, to welcome one new member and one member who was recently reinstated . Billie Huddleston was welcomed by the chapter and International as their Honorary Member. Billie had been member in Tonkawa chapter many years ago. Donna Rubio, social chairperson, presented Billie with a Yellow rose, the chapter’s flower as a welcoming gift. She was also given a new pin from International.

Ponca City Library awarded grant

The ODL (Oklahoma Department of Libraries) has awarded a $1,000 PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) grant to the Ponca City Library to help purchase PPE and supplies to keep staff and visitors safer during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ponca City Library is one of 64 institutions to receive a grant from ODL courtesy of the federal CARES Act and the IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services). A total of $60,000 was distributed by ODL to address the coronavirus concerns of public libraries, tribal libraries, tribal cultural centers, museums, and historic sites in the state.
