Caregiver Conference held at PTC

Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) was host to a one-day Caregiver Conference in the site’s Seminar Center on Tuesday, July 25. This conference featured sessions on topics such as legal documents important to caregivers; what caregivers need to know about Medicare; how the newly passed Oklahoma Caregiver Act will lessen the financial challenge of the caregiver’s responsibilities and more.

Epicenter of Europe’s heat wave shifts to fire-ravaged Greece

The epicenter of Europe’s heat wave is shifting back to fire-ravaged Greece, as temperatures are set to hit 48C (118.4F) by Wednesday. Firefighters on Rhodes, the Greek island from which thousands of tourists were evacuated over the past three days, are using jets and helicopters to prevent a blaze spreading toward the village of Gennadi.

RIBBON CUTTING AND OPEN HOUSE FOR THE NEW PONCA CITY POLICE STATION The City of Ponca City and the Ponca City Police Department will have a Ribbon Cutting and Open House for the new Ponca City Police Station, on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Ribbon Cutting will be at 2:00 p.m. followed by the Open House. The new Police Station, located at 300 E. Oklahoma Avenue, will be open for the public to enjoy come-and-go tours of the facility.
Hartford Avenue pavement repair work

On Thursday, July 27, 2023 pavement repair work will begin on Hartford Avenue at the intersection of NE Woodland Road. The repair work will be performed in two phases and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete barring any delays due to weather.

Joella Francis honored as July’s Healthcare Professional of the Month by the Community Health Foundation of Kay County Joella Francis has been selected as the Community Health Foundation’s July Healthcare Professional of the Month. Joella was nominated by Susan Jones who said, “Joella Francis is nearly 80 and has been an RN for over 50 years!! She still carries an active RN license! Joella has worked in many fields in nursing including as a staff nurse, house supervisor at a hospital, nurse educator for a hospital, and Director of Nursing at a hospital.
