Body
The Oklahoma State Department of Health’s mosquito surveillance program has detected West Nile Virus (WNV) activity in Kay County. This surveillance programs occurs across multiple counties in Oklahoma, trapping and testing mosquitos weekly to check for any signs of WNV. A positive mosquito pool means that there is an enhanced risk of exposure to WNV in the area. As such, prevention is key, and preventing mosquito bites is the most effective form of protection from WNV.
