Traffic Engineering personnel will be replacing the traffic signal cabinet located at the intersection of 14th Street and Grand Avenue on Wednesday, April 29. Work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to be completed that afternoon.

KAY COUNTY deputies assisted Ponca City police on Monday night in an attempt to stop a vehicle. The driver traveled northbound on Oak Street for two blocks before losing control and hitting a street sign and utility pole. Sheriff Steve Kelley said the driver was arrested at the scene. The female passenger was trapped in the overturned vehicle for 20 minutes until firefighters helped to free her. (News Photo by Jessica Windom)

Mrs. Cornelia Jean Loucks was known by her close family and friends as “Connie.” She was born on June 26, 1949 and died on April 17, 2020 at the age of 70. Connie was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many.

Laile Don Stagner, beloved husband, dad, papa and friend left this world unexpectedly and way too soon on Saturday, April 25, 2020 on his annual fishing trip in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with his buddies and partners in crime. He was 66 years old.

Dorothy Nell Claybaker

Dorothy Nell Claybaker was born on September 14, 1932, in Blackwell to Ray and Ella (Gilbert) Miller. She grew up in Blackwell with her brothers Don and Lloyd and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. There she was involved with the Methodist Youth Fellowship and played the piano for many of the Sunday evening services. While in junior high school, Dorothy was already quite an accomplished pianist and also played on the girls’ homeroom basketball team. Later at Blackwell High School she was a member of the Pep Cats, Vice President of her sophomore class, and a three year member of the National Honor Society. She met Max Claybaker as a freshman when he moved from the Star School District into Blackwell Public Schools. They became friends and were involved in many of the same school organizations and activities, many of which involved music. She was the librarian for the Blackwell High School band and accompanied Max on many of his competitive trombone solos.

Gary Bruce Robinson of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, passed away on April 23, 2020 in Oklahoma City at Bellevue Medical Center at 80 years old. He was born to Clyde and Martha Pickard Robinson on December 27, 1939 in the Tonkawa Hospital located on the property where Owen Auto Supply now stands.
