Snyder makes soulless ‘Star Wars’ Filmmaker Zack Snyder finally has brought to the screen an idea he’s had since his college days for a “Star Wars”-like space opera. While “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire” — hitting Netflix this week, after a limited theatrical run, and to be followed in April on the streaming service by “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” — also was influenced by “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Dirty Dozen” and more, it shares much with the 1977 film now titled “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.” There’s a malevolent galactic empire.

‘Anyone But You’ review: Down in Australia, much ado about not enough with Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney

“Anyone But You” isn’t much of anything but “eh,” and “eh” is a mere two-letter word. Based, loosely, on some old play by Shakespeare, director and co-writer Will Gluck’s “Much Ado About Nothing” riff was filmed in Australia and stars Glen Powell as Ben and Sydney Sweeney as Bea, the Benedick and Beatrice equivalents.

Review: Recognizably human for a duck tale, ‘Migration’ flies from studio fare, but not too far

For those familiar with their animation studios, Illumination immediately brings to mind the flood of yapping yellow pills known as the Minions. Its new “Migration” flaps away from those movies, thanks to its director and its occasionally painterly look, but can’t completely slip those bonds.
