Stealing Watermelons A True Story — I hope the statute of limitations has expired When I was a young tyke, full of innocence, no more than ten years old, My older brother and his buddies were up to stealing watermelons I was told. On a pitch-dark, hot summer’s night, we embarked on our watermelon heist, I remained in the “get-away car” with the driver and experienced a poltergeist.

Dear Annie

Body
Dear Annie: I have a friend, “Donna,” who lives in another state. We’ve been friends for three years. Due to past trauma of being cheated on, I have trust issues, not just in relationships but friendships as well. I’ve damaged and even lost a few friends because of these issues.

Voting on a state budget is one of the most important things my Senate colleagues and I do during the legislative session. Leaders of the Senate and House appropriations committees have begun negotiating a state budget for the upcoming fiscal year. This comes after the Senate publicly unveiled its proposed budget in March and voted on it as a full chamber.

Take it Slow and Easy! That slow cooker you keep on reserve for the cold months of winter is a perfect solution for summer, too especially during these days when you just cannot look another takeout meal in the face. Think about it: A slow cooker creates very little heat and costs only pennies a day to operate.

Dear Annie

Dear Annie: I am a school secretary. Parents often call in with issues regarding their children. Some are very personal including health, family issues, abuse, neglect, behavior, etc. Many parents go into FULL detail as to what is happening. In these circumstances, I am not the person who can assist them. Instead, I refer them to a counselor, principal, nurse or teacher. I don’t blame them; they probably do not know where to start and they are struggling.
