The Ponca City Development Authority (PCDA) Board of Trustees announces the appointment of Lori Henderson, CEcD, as the new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2024. This decision was unanimously approved in today’s PCDA board meeting.

Ponca Tribal Victims Services, the City Arts organization, and artist Sarah Elsberry have come together for a new exhibit in the John McNeese Gallery at the City Central building, located at 400 E. Central Avenue, with an opening reception held for the exhibit on Wednesday, May 8.

On May 1, The Blackwell Event Center hosted its first ever Career Exploration Fair. With a large variety of educational institutions, as well as career fields, students of Kay County were able to explore different options for their futures. Students, parents, and any job seekers were highly encouraged to see what the fair had to offer. They even offered assistance with any FASFA paperwork that might be necessary. This event was sponsored by Blackwell Public Schools, Blackwell Economic Development Authority & Industrial Authority, The City of Blackwell, Blackwell Chamber of Commerce, and Pioneer Technology Center.

On Monday, May 6 saw central and northern Oklahoma experience thunderstorms and tornadoes throughout the evening hours. Closer to Ponca City, one of the areas hit the hardest was the community of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, a community that many within the area have ties to.

The 37th Leadership Ponca City Class held their graduation ceremony at the Ponca City Country Club in the evening on Tuesday, May 7. This event is the culmination of nine months worth of sessions to learn about the various aspects of the community in which they live.
