Blackwell hosts Career Exploration Fair

On May 1, The Blackwell Event Center hosted its first ever Career Exploration Fair. With a large variety of educational institutions, as well as career fields, students of Kay County were able to explore different options for their futures. Students, parents, and any job seekers were highly encouraged to see what the fair had to offer. They even offered assistance with any FASFA paperwork that might be necessary. This event was sponsored by Blackwell Public Schools, Blackwell Economic Development Authority & Industrial Authority, The City of Blackwell, Blackwell Chamber of Commerce, and Pioneer Technology Center.

Ossoff effort to combat online sexual abuse of children becomes law

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden signed into law Tuesday a bill sponsored by U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff strengthening requirements for internet providers and websites to submit reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children when they suspect a child is being sexually exploited online.
