GUTHRIE -- The Ponca City varsity boys basketball team once again put up a a lot of effort, but at the end, it lost to Guthrie 71-58 Thursday night. The game was a make-up contest for one postponed earlier in the season due to weather concerns.

GUTHRIE -- In the final nonconference game of the year, the Ponca City Lady Cats defeated the Guthrie Lady Jays 51-45 Thursday night. It was the fourth consecutive victory for the Lady Cats, who boosted their overall record to 10-11.

Ponca City’s varsity basketball teams will head in different directions to participate in this year’s Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Class 6A Regional Tournaments. In regional assignments released Thursday, the Wildcat boys will head south to Putnam City North for their regional, while the Lady Cats will travel to Tulsa’s Booker T.
