Dad Baited My Hook As a little tyke, I fished with my dad and he would always bait my hook, Those worms were slimy, slick, and wiggly, and lots of fatherly skill it took. So, he baited up for me and I would swish my pole and sling out my bait, Then we’d sit in the boat, talk about stuff, and on the fish we would wait.

Work is moving right along at the Capitol. The Senate heard more than 100 bills this week, leaving around 300 remaining to hear by our March 23 deadline. We’ve got our work cut out for us as this coming week will be a short one with Spring Break.

The Ponca City Concert Series announces international string quartet as part of their 2022 - 2023 Concert Season PONCA CITY, Okla. – Multigenre string quartet, Sultans of String, will be performing their one-of-a-kind concert at The Poncan Theatre on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 7:30 p.m.

Ponca City High School’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) attended the Oklahoma BPA State Leadership Conference March 6-8. Our state qualifiers attending were Marshall Blackstar, Andi Massey, Lorin Scott, Rachel Lawson, the Broadcast Production Team of Ethan Meyer, Madison Thibodeaux, Dylan Nance and Amanie Owdetallah and the Podcast Production Team of Tynli Nickell, Angel Garcia, Riley Ladner and Toby McDaniel. Also attending were Abigale Lowrey and Robert Leonard.

If you would have told Animal Control Officer, ACO, Cindy Yinger five years ago what she would have to see and do at her job everyday, she more than likely wouldn’t believe you. Before taking the job at Blackwell Animal Control, she worked at a local veterinary clinic. They worked closely with Animal Control and the previous ACO, John Gerian, came to her when he was in the process of retiring and asked her if she would be interested in the position. He believed that she had what it took to not only handle the job, but excel at it. As it turns out, he was right. Five years later, ACO Yinger has made a name for herself as someone who cares deeply for the animals and has earned a lot of respect in the community of Blackwell and the surrounding towns for her generosity and ferocity when protecting those without a voice.
