Judge orders Texas to remove anti-migrant river buoys, rejects Abbott ‘invasion’ claim

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas must remove floating border buoys by Friday, Sept. 15, and cannot install any similar structures in the Rio Grande without receiving proper approval, a federal judge wrote Wednesday in a scathing ruling criticizing Gov. Greg Abbott for ignoring federal laws.

Music in the Garden is back!

The Music in the Garden Concert Series is back at Cann Memorial Gardens, 1500 E. Grand Ave. Ponca City Arts and Humanities Council has prepared four concerts, featuring some well known favorites, for the month of Sept. These free performances will take place on each Thursday during the month of Sept., those days being 7, 14, 21, and 28. The concerts will start at 6:30 pm each night and last for around an hour. The gardens fill up quick during these shows, so come a little early if you can, and make sure to bring your lawn chairs! The people of Ponca City will be able to enjoy a calm and casual evening with wonderful music and beautiful views of the Cann Memorial Gardens. If in the case of inclement weather, the show will be canceled and will not be rescheduled, so don’t wait to enjoy the festivities!

Labor Day celebration and history

The City of Ponca City held a Labor Day Celebration on Monday., Sept. 4 for the community. Local bands Lane Haas and The Heelers, The Guys, 19-NEVER, Funk n Punch, Mark Miller, performed for those in attendance. These bands played a variety of red dirt, eclectic, hard rock, and metal so that there was a collection of music for everyone in the community. Throughout the day, the food trucks Marshall’s Kitchen, Horton’s Cotton Candy & Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, Snowie Bus, Shepards Frozen Grind, I.C. Freeze Dried Candy, and Brasco’s Chicken & Waffles offered their treats to the community as well.
