Dec. 9—A hard drive into the paint by Rivaldo Soares gave Oklahoma a four-point lead and sparked a furious run late in the first half.

EDMOND -- The Ponca City Wildcat swimmers had a dominating performance Saturday at the Yukon Invitational held at Edmond’s Mitch Park. The Wildcat swimmers had a bunch of first and second places in the meet.

Some teammates surrounded Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, four of them in all, but they could do nothing to tame the response. We haven’t seen anything quite like what unfolded in the waning seconds of the Buffalo Bills’ 20-17 win against the Chiefs, and I’m not referencing the flag, though I’ll get to that.

TAHLEQUAH -- The Ponca City Lady Cats came away with a 54-26 victory over Southeast of Oklahoma City Saturday in the seventhplace game of the Tahlequah Invitational Tournament. It was the first victory of the season for the Lady Cats, who are now 1-3.

Dec. 9—LAS VEGAS — Lakers coach Darvin Ham said ahead of Saturday’s In-Season Tournament championship game between his team and the Indiana Pacers that he didn’t want to reveal too much of their strategy.

The Warriors’ overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night comes down to one big number: 29 turnovers. Those 29 turnovers are not only a single-game season-high by five, not only an all-time high in the Steve Kerr era by three, but the most any Golden State team has committed in a single game since the organizational dark days, Feb.

TAHLEQUAH -- The Ponca City Lady Cats lost a 67-42 decision to the McAlester Lady Buffaloes Thursday in the opening round of the Tahlequah Invitational Tournament. Ponca City held a 14-13 lead after the first quarter, but then was held to five points in the second quarter as McAlester scored 19 to take a 32-19 lead at the half.

Dec. 7—Coleman Scott and his family were stuck in Los Angeles traffic when he received a phone call from Oklahoma State wrestling coach John Smith.

Fourteen members of the Ponca City Wildcats were among those honored when District 6AII-2 all-district teams were named. The selection is made at the completion of the football season each year by district coaches.
