Feb. 15—OKLAHOMA CITY — As the final seconds of the third quarter trickled off the clock, Rockets guard Josh Christopher missed an off-balance, one-handed scoop layup attempt. The Thunder got the rebound ahead to Shai Gilgeous- Alexander, who threw down a dunk that expanded Oklahoma City’s lead to 40 points and punctuated what had already become the Rockets’ second humiliation in as many weeks.
SALLISAW -- Adisyn Ivers secured her place in Ponca City High School sports history this week by qualifying for the Class 6A State Tournament Ivers is the first wrestler in the history of the school’s girls program to earn a state berth. She wrestles at 145 pounds and is a sophomore The State Tournament for all classes, including girls, will be Feb. 24-25 at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. Sallisaw hosted the Girls East Regional.
Area smaller school basketball teams are in the beginning stages of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association playoffs. In Classes A and B, the district tournaments were played last week, with some being eliminated and some moving on to this week’s regional tournaments.
MIDWEST CITY -- Hoping that the third time would prove to be a charm didn’t work out for the Ponca City Wildcats varsity basketball team as it lost an 81-72 decision to the Midwest City Bombers Tuesday night.

The streak ended Tuesday night when the Midwest City Bombers topped the Lady Cats 61-52 in a conference game, also the final regular season game for Ponca City.
