This week’s cat of the week is Clarence, the 3 year old domestic shorthair that has captured the hearts of many at Northern Oklahoma Humane Society. Clarence has been at NOKHS since the end of January and was brought in as an owner surrender. He is waiting for his second chance at a forever home. Clarence stood out because of his loving and gentle personality. Unlike many cats at NOKHS, Clarence has never met a stranger and is the kind of cat that is pressing his face up against the kennel trying to get your attention. Clarence is truly the perfect cat. He loves people and, while he can be weary in new environments, he adjusts very quickly to many situations. Unfortunately, Clarence has been diagnosed as FIV+ which is an immunodeficiency virus. Cats infected with this will have symptoms of recurrent illnesses such as runny nose or sneezing, inflammations of the eyes or skin, and more. There is no true cure for FIV and it will be something that Clarence will have for the rest of his life. Regardless of his condition, Clarence needs a family and a home. Because of his condition, it is safer if Clarence is an only cat to minimize the risk of this virus spreading. Clarence is so incredibly sweet and loving. His greatest wish is to have a family he can love and be loved by.
