California bill would ban sales of Skittles, other ‘toxic’ snacks LOS ANGELES — The snack and candy aisles at your local grocery store could soon carry fewer items if a bill proposed by California Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel is voted into law. Last month, Gabriel, a Woodland Hills Democrat, introduced AB 418, which would ban the sale, manufacture and distribution of foods containing chemicals that have been linked to health concerns including decreased immune response, hyperactivity in children and increased risk of cancer.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore searching for new location

After 16 years in downtown Ponca City, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore will soon be relocating, and now the hunt is on for a new storefront to continue to help serve the community. The building that the ReStore is currently housed within has been sold, and there is a nonspecific timeline within which they will need to move out.

Ponca City Senior Center reopening at 319 W. Grand

The Ponca City Senior Center is nearing the completion of a 10-month renovation project that included replacement of the roof, HVAC equipment and duct work, installation of new lighting and flooring, electrical upgrades, reconstruction of the restrooms for enhanced ADA compliance, and many more improvements that will make the facility safer and more accommodating for our community’s seniors.

March 21, 2023 Domestic - At 12:06 am, the reporting party advised of a verbal domestic between a male and female in the 200 block of S. Osage, no weapons. Reporting party advised the female was pregnant. Both halves stated it was a verbal domestic. They calmed down and advised they would go to bed.

Like many of his generation, Hoh was steeled in his patriotism by the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, and he was eager to serve.
