Burbank First Baptist Church News

Body
Well, we’re finally feeling the full impact of summer. I am thankful that the Lord has provided a building for us to meet in that is air conditioned. I find it interesting that we take a lot of things for granted in this world. I remember when I was a small boy in Indiana, we attended a rural church that had no air conditioning. The wood frame windows would be raised. The church provided hand fans for the members to use. I don’t even remember that there was much complaining. We do live with a few more modern conveniences than we had in my early years. I am fascinated by the stories that people recall about the good old days. But I’m also fascinated by the stories that we have given to us through God’s inspired word. I do not have enough time or space to talk of all the stories that are in the Bible. But I’m thankful that we have the witness of those that were faithful to God such as Abraham, Joseph, David, the major and minor prophets, and then all the Apostles and Disciples that Jesus called to “Follow Me”. Those two words, “Follow Me”, require a commitment from everyone to discover God’s will for their life. It would be well if people would take advantage of the opportunity to be followers of Jesus. We need the gathering of those that believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to encourage one another, to strengthened one another, and to love one another. I pray that you have a church home. It makes all the difference in the world as to how you face life and live through the challenges that life brings.
