Holly & the Guys take center stage for Full Moon Concert, Sunday, August 22

Holly & the Guys will headline the Full Moon Concert on Sunday, August 22 in Tonkawa Centennial Park, 301 East Grand, Tonkawa, OK. The musically eclectic band features lead jazz vocalist Holly Peart with Brandon Haynes, John Shwayat, Hunter Vogele, Erik Willadsen, and Brody Farrow. Holly & the Guys performs a broad selection of pop-genre covers including jazz, pop, rock, and some good ol’ oldies including a set of moon-themed tunes just for the event! The free outdoor concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. under the Heart in the Park pavilion and is sponsored by North Central Oklahoma Arts Council (NCOAC) and Heart in the Park Committee

Certified staff members attend assembly

Certified staff members from Ponca City Public Schools attended an assembly on Friday morning at Robson Fieldhouse celebrating the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. The assembly for all support staff members will be Monday at 8 a.m. at the same location. The Po-Hi Steppers, cheerleaders and band members performed during the assembly. The first day of school in Ponca City is Wednesday, Aug. 18.

The first film based upon the Suicide Squad comics was something of a mess that was clearly chopped up in editing, and suffered from executive meddling that resulted a very sub-par movie over all. Thankfully, the sequel title “The Suicide Squad” is a far, far better film than the previous 2016 effort and might just be my new favorite DCEU film.

The air force fabricated a story of how their skilled fighter pilot John “Cats’ eyes” Cunningham attributed his excellent night vision due to a carroten-riched diet. Soon, everyone began to eat more carrots get stronger night vision so that they could work in the dark as well. However, it turned out to be mere propaganda as the Air Force was, in fact, utilizing radar to locate the German bombers.

Hazardous mitigation open meeting scheduled for August 18

A Public Meeting has been scheduled to gather community input to include in the City of Ponca City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. Hazard mitigation is the art and science of identifying all natural hazards likely to impact our City, ranking them by level of concern (both the damage they can do and the likelihood that they will impact the community), and then identifying the resources that would be needed to meet that disaster in an effort to prevent damage and loss of life.
