Vinnie Pasquantino, Kansas City Royals ‘not hiding from anybody’ as losses pile up

Body
Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino is having quite the season at the plate. It’s the kind of season where — even when the Royals seemingly couldn’t get a hit off Minnesota starter Tyler Mahle in an eventual 7-1 loss — Pasquantino found a way to smash a solo home run, his fifth long ball of the season.

Capitol Considerations

Body
We have one month left to finish our work on the remaining policy measures, executive nominations, and the state budget. This session, I’m happy to be carrying several executive nominations of outstanding individuals in Senate District 10, including Newkirk resident Jason Grace and Ponca City residents Rick Scott and Molly Kyler to the Board of Trustees of the University Center in Ponca City before the Education Committee. I’ll also be presenting the nomination of Rodney Owens of Sand Springs to the Commission on Consumer Credit in the Business and Commerce Committee.

To DNA or NOT To DNA?

Body
DNA testing and interpretation is a hot topic in genealogy these days. Pioneer Genealogical Society will discuss it at their monthly meeting on Monday, May 1, at 7 pm at the Ponca City Library. Hallie Godbehere, PGS Board member, will present the program from her extensive experience using DNA to track down family members and their mutual ancestors, with a special emphasis on using the Leeds method. In 2018 Dana Leeds, while trying to help a shocked young man looking for his REAL birth parents, devised a way to use a spreadsheet and color coding to sort through pages of DNA matches from testing to simplify and identify his actual four grandparents’ lines. It can be great way to make sense of testing results to solve mysteries in family research and find new direction when documents are not available.
