y now, most households Bin Ponca City should have received at least one invitation to respond to the 2020 Census. Responding to the census is important, because it helps determine funding for key public services in our community such as schools, hospitals and healthcare, roads, and bridges, as well as emergency and disaster response.

High school teacher faces charges

onca City High School Pteacher Michael Clinton Grimes, 59, was arrested on Friday afternoon on three felony counts of child abuse. He was released on a $5,000 bond. According to the affidavit, Grimes is accused of taking inappropriate pictures of students, staff members and unknown women. Cpt. Eric Welch, a school resource officer at Ponca City High School, said he was called to the main office on Nov. 21, 2019, to speak with principal Thad Dilbeck who provided him with witness and victim statements regarding the alleged crimes. The victims and witnesses claim that they were photographed by Grimes during class and in a lab class.

Disturbance — At 9:58 a.m. Friday a subject in the 300 block of South Pine reported man outside cussing at a neighbor. An officer responded and advised they got into a cussing match and everything was calmed down. No report was taken.
