Darrell Wayne Wood was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on December 21, 1956 to Evelyn Violet (Dorman) Wood and Roscoe Allen Wood. Darrell passed away on December 15th, 2022 at the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from complications of COVID, pneumonia and kidney failure. Through the years, he fought several battles with cancer and courageously beat them all.

Applications can be picked up at the Kay County Sheriff’s Office or obtained by calling 580-362-3250 and a copy of the application will be emailed to you. You can also find the application on the Kay County webpage. Please download the application and return it to the office when complete. The Academy will begin Thursday, March 16, 2023, and the deadline for applications will be Friday, March 10, 2023. The Citizens Academy is a 12 week program, held Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Kay County Sheriff’s Office and Pioneer Tech. The Academy is free of charge but the class size is limited.
