Ponca City Oktoberfest schedule of events

The 39th Annual Ponca City Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2 at the Marland Mansion Estate. As with previous years, this event will see a variety of activities, vendors and entertainment including live music, food vendors, craft booths, children’s areas with large inflatables, train rides, bungee trampoline, rock climbing, carnival games and the sports tent featuring all the big football games of the weekend.

AARP Smart Driver Course offered Oct. 10 and 11

Looking for an opportunity to lower your auto insurance premiums and update yourself on changes in the driving landscape and motoring rules. This course includes the latest related information as well as strategies for driving safely longer. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and AARP is holding a “Smart Driving course at 6-9 pm on Monday & Tuesday, October 10 & 11, 2022 at the Church; 2230 North Union Street #1554; Ponca City, OK. Participant must attend both nights to receive certificate. The course is open to the public.

Lawmakers to allocate $1.87 billion this week

By the end of the week, Oklahoma lawmakers are expected to allocate nearly all of the state’s $1.87 billion in federal coronavirus relief funds when they come back for a special session. The projects to be funded include millions for broadband upgrades across the state and scores of programs for water infrastructure, workforce development and training, as well as health care and technology upgrades.

- At 3:23 am on Sept. 28, the reporting party advised there was a group of four subjects screaming in the alleyway at 420 S. Washington. Officers advised the subjects left when they saw them. Unable to locate.
