Roselyn Irene (Begay) Whitehorn passed away on Thursday, January 24th, 2022 in Ponca City, Oklahoma at Alliance Health Hospital. She was in the presence of her loving family.

She was born August 23, 1960 in Shiprock, New Mexico to the late Ralph H. Begay and Irene H. Begay of Sweetwater, Arizona. Roselyn is full blooded Díne and is Tláásch’chí’í (Red Bottom Clan). She attended Olympus schools in Salt Lake City, Utah. She received her high school diploma in 1977 then went on to business tech school.

Roselyn was united in Holy matrimony to the late Randall Whitehorn in Reno, Nevada on January 20, 1987. She was a longtime resident of Red Rock, Oklahoma amongst the Otoe-Missouria people. She was lifetime member of the Native American Church. For many years, she served next to her late husband caring for and participating in the First Born Church of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. She enjoyed traveling around attending NAC meetings and other various ceremonial doings. She had great faith, love, and gratitude for the privilege of prayer.

Rose also known as “Casino Queen” “Blackjack Rose” and “Moolah Rose.” Pushing buttons at the casino was her biggest hobby. She never grew tired of the casino lights, sounds, the endless coffee, and the vibrant atmosphere. She also enjoyed her iPad and the limitless amount of shows on Netflix. She also enjoyed cooking, arts & crafts, and a number of hands-on activities.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, mother: Irene H. Begay, three daughters: Tara Hocker, Elsie Whitehorn, Sophie Whitehorn; two sons: Ronnie Whitehorn, Curtis Johnson; six granddaughters: Winona Breuninger, Cora Breuninger, Glynnis Breuninger, Ranlyn Simpson, Elsie Simpson, Rena Simpson; three grandsons: Haden Johnson, Elias Breuninger, Harley Johnson; two greatgrandchildren: Hayna Warrior Jr. and Erin Warrior.

Roselyn Whitehorn was a unique individual in so many ways. She was able to make you laugh without trying. She made everyone feel special in her own way. She was very social, always greeting relatives, friends, and strangers. She was auntie and grandma to many loving relatives. She would give her very best and made sure to include anyone and everyone.

The late Randall Whitehorn’s Indian Friend, Ted Grant, will be leading. Gary “Chink” Whitecloud Sr. and the Otoe-Missouria Native American Church Chapter will conduct wake services at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Building Thursday-Saturday February 24-26, 2022 at 7 p.m. A traditional noon meal will be served at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Building with burial to follow at the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery on Sunday, February 27, 2022. An Otoe-Missouria Native American Church funeral meeting to be conducted by Pat and Tonya Moore, Saturday February 26, 2022.
