Patsy Jean Martin, Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the age of 76. She had been diagnosed with cancer several times, and fought through many bouts of chemo and radiation, finally succumbing to the disease. Her service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Albright United Methodist Church, Ponca City, with Pastor Leon Veasey officiating. Services are under the guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Pat, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on October 9, 1946, in Ponca City, OK. She was the second child born to George Alva Brown and Opal (Musgrave) Brown, and her siblings are Judy, Katie, and Linda. She was raised and educated in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1964. Pat attended and graduated from the School of Banking in Oklahoma City, OK. Upon returning to Ponca City, she worked in the office of the Coca Cola Bottling Company until she joined the Army in 1974. While stationed in Germany, she met her future husband, fellow soldier Robert Louis martin. Pat worked on base as a secretary while in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1977. After their military careers, they lived in Belville, Illinois, then moved back to Ponca City. Pat worked for the Oklahoma State Employment commission as a Placement Clerk where she held that position until her retirement. her family regularly attended Albright United Methodist Church. She loved volunteering and had a passion for genealogy. Multiple times a year she and Bob would make the trip to Branson where she really loved music and especially anything Elvis. Pat was known for being strong-willed and the word stubborn might have been thrown in for good measure. But she was at her best loving and being proud of her family. She experienced life head on, whatever she encountered.

Pat chose to be cremated after her service so her casket will be donated for another veteran’s burial. Bob and Chris felt that she would very much approve of this.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert, of the residents; son, Chris Martin of Wichita, Kansas; mother, O[al Brown of Ponca City; and sisters, Katie Goss, Ponca City, Judy Ritthaler and Linda Stevens, both of Perry, Oklahoma. Because cooking was not Pat’s thing, one of their favorite places to eat was Perkins and Dean, Chrissy, and Stormy became wonderful and caring friends. Rick Brown and Jan Matheson were two special people she considered family. She leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins and beloved lifelong friends to miss her.

Preceding her in death were her father, George, and maternal grandparents Carl and Hazel (Coleman) Musgrave and paternal grandparents Joseph and Ammie (Mackey) Brown.
