Maxine Ann Warren Marzuola, 93, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away December 28, 2023, after a life full of love and laughter. She was born September 9, 1930, in Dow, Oklahoma as the only child of Cecil Roger and Julia Persiani Warren. She passed peacefully to her eternal reward on December 28, 2023, at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by loving family. She loved and was well loved by those who knew her. She had a gift for conversation and loved to interact with anyone who would listen.

Maxine graduated from Haileyville High School in Haileyville, Oklahoma. She married Louis Marzuola, Jr., on July 28, 1951, and they started what would be a 72-year marriage that welcomed three children, seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. In 1955, they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for her husband’s job with the Rock Island Railroad. They remained there until 2017 and raised their family in Shawnee. In 2017 they relocated to Ponca City, OK.

She worked in a number of clerical positions at Sears, Roebuck & Co. and Shawnee Public Schools. She also served a term on the Shawnee Public Schools Board of Education as a Board member.

She was a longtime member of First Christian Church, Shawnee, Oklahoma.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many outfits for her children during their developmental years. She enjoyed wonderful friendships and spent countless hours playing with, cooking for, and loving her children and grandchildren. For decades, family meals in the Marzuola’s Shawnee home centered around Maxine’s delicious Italian cooking and legendary desserts. Maxine and Louie together built a beautiful place that multiple generations call home.

She was a willing volunteer and served in a number of positions for the N.A.R.V.R.E. (National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, INC) in support of her husband’s work on the Rock Island and Union Pacific Railroads.

More than anything, Maxine and Louie were fiercely devoted to their family. They were the consummate grandparents and spared nothing in order to support each of their grandchildren in whatever ways they could, including flying halfway across the country from Gainesville, FL, to Oklahoma City, OK, to see two graduations in one day in 1996!

Maxine is survived by her 97-year-old husband of 72 years, Louis Marzuola, Jr., and her three children: Juli-Ann Marzuola (Corky Reese), St. Petersburg, FL; Sheila Rose (Gary), Midwest City, OK; and Randol Marzuola (Jocelyn); seven grandchildren: Jennifer Gilby (Jon), St Petersburg, FL; Renee’ Marzuola, Tulsa, OK; Denise Rose (Bryan Hebert), Austin, TX; Melissa Howard (Jim), Prosper, TX; Jeremy Marzuola (Ingrid), Carrboro, NC; Michael Rose (Whitney), Bixby, OK; and Allison Mahaney (Tom), Port Angeles, WA; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her great-granddaughter Addalyn Ann Bourasaw.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Friday, January 5, 2024, at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, Oklahoma, preceded by a private family burial ceremony.
