Johnny Caudle, 79, passed peacefully at his home December 11, 2022 after a short but graceful and courageous battle with cancer.

Johnny was born to John F. and Florence R. Caudle on October 31, 1943 in Enid, OK. Johnny dedicated his life to making others better and supporting their efforts. He began and ended his professional career in education, spending most of his career teaching science, history, and psychology. His early teaching career was interrupted by a stint in the U. S. Army, including a tour in South Korea.

Johnny’s love for sports and the improvement of others led him to coach many sports and teams through his life. He was recognized in 1992 as an all-state coach for soccer. Johnny’s selfless lifestyle, mild manner and complete love for others created an example for living for countless people whose path he touched.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Marcia, son Pete and his wife Amber, daughters Robbi Herrman and husband Paul, Jimmi Stevens and husband Scott, grandchildren, Tristen Caudle and wife, Christine, Abby Caudle, Racheal Watkins-Waner and husband Bryan, Delaney Cornforth, Nathan, Logan and Ella Herrman and great grandson Milo Watkins-Waner. Johnny is also survived by his sister, Margaret, brother, Jim, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Florence Caudle, brothers Alvin and Ernie Caudle, sister, Mary Jo, and Pete’s mother Sharon Bishoff.

Apart from his life of service, education and sports, Johnny loved the outdoors, bird watching and feeding and his cats, especially his surviving girls, Purrlee and Sassy.

After retirement, he spent much of his time volunteering and attending church, singing in his church choir and several quartets through the years, giving tours at the E. W. Marland Mansion, and spending time with his family, and friends.

Johnny’s celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 200 South 6th in Ponca City, OK, on January 28, 2023 at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, Johnny and the family would greatly appreciate donations in Johnny’s name be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74601.
