Doris Ann Swain of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on March 15, 2024, in Integris Bass Hospital in Enid, following a brief illness at the age of 88 years.

Doris Ann Swain was born July 22, 1935, in Oswego, Kansas, to Walter Leroy and Dona Callie (Brown) Watson. While in the sixth grade, her family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas, where she graduated high school in 1953.

On April 10, 1960, she married Don Swain in Coffeyville and they enjoyed over fifty years of wedded bliss. He preceded her in death in April of 2010.

Doris loved watching sports, especially O.U. She spent many, many hours watching her kids and grandkids at sporting events. The highlight of her life was when the grandkids and great grandkids came to spend spring break or vacation with her.

Doris volunteered for twenty-one years at the Good-Bye Shoppe, where she made many friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as nursery secretary for twenty-three years. Children were an important part of her life, as she worked at Harris Day Care Center for fifteen years. She also held membership in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed gathering pecans, going on bus trips, especially to Branson, and collecting miniature tea sets.

She is survived by four children, Steven Swain and wife Labrenda of Braman, Stan Swain and wife Lori of Ponca City, Debbie Fetters and husband Chris of Enid, and David Swain and wife Kathleen of Blackwell; seven grandchildren, Jason, Justin, LaTisha, Blake, Kyle, Jessica and Joshua; two stepgrandchildren; nine great grandchildren; eight stepgreat grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and two step-great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; a grandson, Jeremy; four great grandchildren; and two nieces.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20th in Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery in Ponca City.

Family visitation will be on Tuesday evening, March 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The grandchildren of Doris Swain will serve as casketbearers.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Sherman Cemetery in Sherman, Texas, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, OK 74631.
