The Producers at Ponca Playhouse is a wild and crazy ride

Body
Musical theatre fans are in for a treat this weekend and next at the Ponca Playhouse as they present the hilarious, irreverent romp that is Mel Brooks’ The Producers. Director Chad Anderson and his team have created a wonderful show that hits all the right notes and will keep you smiling and tapping your toes to the very end. Fans of the show will already know just how delightfully insane it gets but if you’re unfamiliar be prepared for some jaw dropping moments that leave you gasping with laughter. One person seated behind me in the audience at Thursday night’s final dress rehearsal sounded as though they might need a paper bag to breathe into. It’s THAT funny. Is it a little offensive at times? Oh, yes… and that’s the point. This show makes no bones about making fun of everyone and everything and doing it in such a carefree way that you can’t help but laugh.
