Nov. 4, 2023 Assault - At 5:01 am, the reporting party on 911 advised of 16 people in front of 716 N. Elm, and someone was possibly shot. The reporting party advised she was assaulted. The subjects were last seen toward Lake. Both parties were separated and calmed down.

Nov. 2, 2023 Assault - At 12:48 am, the reporting party requested an officer in reference to a juvenile that was assaulted by an adult male in a white Hyundai Sonata with a temporary tag from CarMart at 3305 N. 14th. Suspect was not on scene. Victim was an adult and uncooperative. Refused medical and a report.

Public Safety Center improves safety in Newkirk

The Newkirk Public Safety Center rises two stories above Maple Street in downtown Newkirk. Multiple bays house fire trucks and ambulances operated by the Newkirk Fire/EMS service (NFD), the first time in many years they were able to store all vehicles indoors. Fire Chief Adam Longcrier sits behind his desk in the biggest office he has ever worked as fire chief. In a window behind him, the old station is clearly visible, a station they had spent more than half a century in.
