On Thu., Feb. 16, the Grammy Award wining Oak Ridge Boys took the Northern Oklahoma College stage for the third time on their Front Porch Singin’’ Tour. This marks the 50th Anniversary of the Oak Ridge Boys, and they are still going strong with new music and regular tours all across the country.

This quartet has been recognized for decades for their music and have earned a vast number of awards for them. In total, the Oak Ridge Boys have been nominated for 23 Grammy Awards and won 5 of them, they received 15 CMA Award nominations and have won 2: Vocal Group of the Year in 1978 and Single of the Year for “Elvira” in 1981 and their backing band won CMA Instrumental Group of the Year in 1978 and 1986. This is not the end of their long list of achievements though. They were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2000, became Grand Ole Opry members in 2011, inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015, and so many more.

These living legends have a number of hits under their belts from the last 50 years. Some of their most known songs include: Elvira, Bobbie Sue, Dream on, Thank God for Kids, American Made, Trying to Love Two Women, I’m Settin’ Fancy Free, Y’all Come Back Saloon, and many others. The group has obtained 12 gold, three platinum, and one double platinum album. On top of that, they have one double platinum single, more than a dozen national Number One singles, and over 30 Top Ten hits.

This performance at Northern Oklahoma College marks the third time the Oak Ridge Boys have graced the stage at NOC. In 1978, 45 years ago now, The Oak Ridge Boys performed for NOC for the very first time. In 2019, they were brought back and welcomed with a sold-out show and now had the same welcome in 2023 with tickets selling out within weeks of opening ticket sales. This concert was sponsored by the Renfro Endowed Lectureship Program and Northern Oklahoma College. For the people that bought the specialty dinner and a show, dinner began at 6 pm at the Renfro Center and soon after, at 7:30 pm, the concert began in the Kinder Performing Arts Center. During this performance the quartet snag both their greatest hits, as well as songs from their newest album, Front Porch Singin’, that released in 2021.
