Kay County’s Healthy Living Coalition (KCHLC) in collaboration with Oklahoma State University’s Community Wellness Programs (OSU-CWP) has been awarded the second year for three 5-year continuation grants for Community Based Prevention Services, through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). The three awarded grants focus on prevention of use for illegal stimulants, and the misuse of marijuana and alcohol in Kay County.

ODMHSAS’s Community Based Prevention Services grants across the state follow the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) model, with the first year focusing on community and coalition assessment, capacity building, and planning. The coming year 2022-2023 will focus on implementation of the proposed grants. Members of the KCHLC be in the community working to provide evidence-based prevention strategies all three substances. The coalition is always willing to welcome new members to build relationships within the community to help set Oklahoma on a path to better health. KCHLC aims to bring representatives from all diverse sectors into the coalition. If you or your organization are interested in becoming a member or partnering with KCHLC please consider coming to one of the monthly meetings. The aim is to help create sustainable environmental changes to decrease substance misuse in Kay County.
