DETROIT — The Pistons and Dallas Mavericks were deadlocked at 125-125 in the final minute of a thrilling overtime game when Killian Hayes decided to put on his superman cape to save the day. The third-year guard connected on backto- back 3-pointers to help propel the Pistons to a 131-125 win at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night.
Second-guessing is a big part of picking NFL games. Last week was a prime example. A 9-7 record is fine, but it felt as if it could’ve been 12-4 had a few big plays gone my way, especially after a 3-0 start on Thanksgiving. The NFL and NBC are going to feel as if they missed an opportunity this week, too.
EDMOND -- In the opening dual of the season, Ponca City’s varsity boys wrestling team took it on the chin, losing 72-8 to a very good Edmond North team. The Wildcats were wrestling without the team members who were on the football team, a group who practiced for the first time a week ago Monday.
EDMOND -- The first dual in the history of the Ponca City girls’ wrestling program is in the record books. Thursday, the Lady Wildcats scored 21 points in a 51-21 defeat to a more experienced Edmond North team. The girls will be on the road again next Thursday for a dual at Yukon.
In the first home swim event of the young season, Ponca City’s teams came away with a clean sweep victory. The Wildcat swimmers hosted Collinsville and Oologah-Talala in the event Tuesday.
