On a chilly, sunny afternoon shortly after the school day Jan. 4, a group of 4-H’ers meets at the Kay County Oklahoma State University Extension office in Newkirk. In front of those students is a variety of food ingredients, items they will turn into a delicious, healthy snack. It is a workshop, a chance to dive into culinary fun and practice ahead of the Food Showdown, a special event exhibiting their skills and competing against one another this coming Monday, Jan. 15.
