Officially the Red Sox were only charged with two errors. They probably should have been charged with at least five.

PHOENIX — In the top of the seventh inning Monday, a groundskeeper wandered from the third base stands onto the turf at Chase Field. Rake in hand, he ambled a couple of steps towards the mound, then turned around, started towards home plate, then stopped and turned around a couple of more times.

The Steelers played Saturday against Buffalo, and now they play their final preseason game against Atlanta on Thursday — and then their first regular season game is, like, mid-November or something.

Kansas City Royals starter Jordan Lyles recorded his 15th consecutive game with five or more innings pitched on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough. Lyles limited the Chicago Cubs to just four runs (two earned), but the two runs he allowed in the first inning were the Royals’ undoing in a 4-3 loss at Wrigley Field.

EDMOND -- Members of the Ponca City cross country team participated in Saturday’s meet at Deer Creek High School near Edmond. The Wildcat runners competed in the Emerging Varsity and Junior Varsity sections of the meet.
