Foxes run wild in Ponca City

Body
If you have driven around Ponca City in the last few months, you might have noticed a number of painted fox murals popping up around town. These have been in connection to City Arts’ Fox Project. Over the last several years, the fox has become a sort of unofficial mascot for Ponca City. The history behind the mascot is fairly simple. In the 1930s, a figurehead of Oklahoma history, E.W. Marland, brought red foxes from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma to be kept, bred, and hunted for sport. Now, it is not uncommon to see a red fox around town.
