Kay County 4-H welcomes Jenna Frederick as intern

The Kay County 4-H program works tirelessly with members across the county, from the Newkirk Go-Getters down to Tonkawa, promoting many concepts to area youth. For the past number of months, however, the Kay County 4-H educator’s office has sat dark and empty as Oklahoma State University (OSU) Kay County Extension is reviewing resumes and conducting interviews for the next educator. There is a new face in the office now, at least temporarily, as Jenna Frederick has joined Kay County 4-H as an intern this summer. This is, for her, a chance to gain experience in a career path she plans to follow after graduation.

Animal professionals warn against rising Parvo cases

With Spring in our rearview and Summer ahead of us, the Canine Parvovirus has come knocking. More commonly known as Parvo, the Canine Parvovirus is a deadly and terrifying sickness that can occur in all dogs. While many believe that older dogs cannot be affected by this illness, it is not just puppies that are infected. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, Parvo can affect all dogs, but unvaccinated dogs and puppies younger than four months old are the most at risk.
