Wrestlers finish sixth in KC

KANSAS CITY-- Ponca City’s boys varsity wrestling team finished in sixth place in the prestigious Kansas City Stampede over the past weekend. There were 67 teams competing in the event.

Three Wildcat wrestlers placed in the tournament. Chris Kiser won a championship at the KC Stampede for the second consecutive year. He was 6-0 at 113 pounds, with all six wins being by pins.

Gabe Roland finished in third place at 215 pounds, with a 6-1 record. His only loss was to the champion in overtime.

Cameron Kiser finished in fourth place at 120 pounds with a 7-2 record.

The Wildcats will have a break until Jan. 3 when they travel to Choctaw for a dual. They have been ranked No. 8 in the latest OSSAA Class 6A rankings.
