PIEDMONT -- The Ponca City Wildcats summer varsity baseball team lost a 12-4 decision Tuesday to Piedmont.

Piedmont scored all the runs they would need in the first inning, posting five. It added two in the third three in the fourth and two in the fifth. Ponca City scored one in the second and added three in the fourth.

The Wildcats had four hits in the game, while Piedmont had eight. Getting hits for Ponca City were Kalon Covey, Isaiah Branstetter, Titan Bute and Blake Orozco.

Aidan Howard, Branstetter, Cameron Schmitt and Colton Jones all saw time on the mound for Ponca City. Howard was credited with the loss.

In Ponca City’s second inning, Bute led off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball. Bute advanced to third on a ground out and scored on another passed ball.

Ponca City scored three in the fourth. The action started with Covey’s lead off single. Branstetter followed with a single moving Covey to second. Bute reached on an error, which loaded the bases. With two outs Orozco hit a double on a line drive to left field. Three runs scored on the play.
