Ponca City High School’s swim team has 16 swimmers who will be going to the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Class 6A State meet. The state event will be Feb. 16-18 in the Edmond Public Schools Aquatic Center.

The number of Po-Hi swimmers going is larger than the 14 that went a year ago.

Those on the list of participants among the girls are Pracilla Ard, Alyssa Cannon, Jessalyn Carpenter, Luisa Jahnel, Mattie Shearer, Alyssa Sullivan and Aihanna Payne. The boys who are going include John-Paul Coleman, Timothy Crank, Tanner Estes, Tre’ Jones, Kyle King, Riley Ladner, Jack Lopez, Saxxon Lorett and Braden Stewart.

Ponca City had three swimmers who won individual gold medals in last week’s Class 6A Regional in Jenks. Timothy Crank and Kyle King each had two first place finishes among the boys and Mattie Shearer had a first among the girls. Also finishing in first place was the boys 200 Freestyle Relay team.

Heather Harris is the head coach and Derek Taylor is an assistant.
