Shawnee edges Wildcat Cagers

SHAWNEE -- The Ponca City Wildcats led Shawnee for most of Friday’s game, but in the end lost by a point, 43-42.

The WIldcats were ahead 10-3 after one quarter, and 26-20 at the half. Shawnee evened the score 32-32 after three quarters and took its first lead 34-32 early in the fourth quarter. From that point on, the two teams battled back and forth, but in the final minute, the Wolves took a one-point lead 43-42. Ponca City had an opportunity to win the game late, but a shot near the buzzer was not good.

Tay Moore led Ponca City’s scoring with 14 points. Mason Meador also finished in double figures with 10.

The loss drops the Wildcats’ record to 2-6. They will be off until Jan. 5 when they are scheduled to participate in the Bartlesville Tournament.
